Student Social programme in London this week

The SGI London Student Social Programme has all the usual goodies this week to help our students get the most out of the world’s most diverse and exciting city.

Monday: Meet and Greet

Teacher, Ben takes the students to the cafe next door for coffee, cakes, chatting and more. This is the best way to meet other students from different classes and practise your English for free. You can also ask Ben for any cool tips or secrets about things you should definitely do while you are on your English study trip in London.

Tuesday: Imperial War Museum

Go with SGI teacher, Marija on a quick London Underground ride to this excellent museum just south of The River Thames. All the museums in London are great to walk around, but this one really makes you think.

Wednesday: Traditional British Afternoon Tea

This is one of the SGI students‘ most favourite event on the social programme. Get to experience a British classic – tea and scones and lots of clotted cream! If you don’t know what all that means, sign up your name at reception and go along to Brown’s Cafe with teacher, Melissa to pretend that you are Her Majesty The Queen drinking tea from a fine china cup.  COST: £10

Thursday: Under the Bridges Guided Walk

Teacher, Owen (who is also a qualified London Tourist Walking Guide) takes you on a historical and information-packed trip along The Thames, starting from St Paul’s Cathedral and finishing up in the financial district. You might need a scarf to keep warm, as it is January!  🙂

Thursday: Mamma Mia Musical

If you like ABBA songs (and who doesn’t?) this is the musical and night-out for you. It’s the theatre production of the most successful British movie ever and it is bound to get you dancing in the aisles and singing along. COST: £26

Friday: Cafe de Paris Club Night

Lost in London hosts a club night especially for foreign students in London. You can meet young people from all over the world. You must be 18 to get in (and they DO check your identification) and you are not allowed to wear trainers. Get a discounted ticket of £6 from reception, or you will have to pay £15 on the night at the door.

Weekend: Trips around the UK

If you want to see other famous cities like Bath, Oxford, Cambridge etc, then you can go on a bus tour with Anderson Excursions. Ask the girls on the school reception for more information about these weekend events.
