This week has been filled with the usual social activities such as the Pub on Monday, Owen’s City walk on Tuesday, War Horse at the Theatre on Thursday (which was amazing!) and tonight’s club night, but this week’s blog is all about the SGI Halloween Party on Wednesday. It kicked off at 7pm with Jon, myself and one student, whilst waiting for Dan and the group he was bringing from school: it turns out that they went the wrong way! Jon was dressed up as The Elephant Man, whilst I was a witch with a rather bright purple wig on. I felt famous for the first half an hour as all my students wanted pictures with me dressed up. Once the party got started and everyone had a drink and some nibbles the place livened up. Some of the students came dressed up and made a real effort, whereas others were not so keen but still got into the spirit of things once they were there. We had a face painting table and other games but everyone decided that they would rather dance, drink and talk the night away. There were 3 prizes going for costumes. One was won by Abdullah, who came fully dressed as a Vampire, complete with some realistic fangs and a cloak. The others were won by a couple of students whose costumes were so good, but I'm afraid that I couldn’t tell you who they were! The bar was drank dry, bottles were accidentally smashed and some serious looking moves were happening on the dance floor. All in all, a rather good party I'd say! If you were there and took any pictures please email them in and I will create a picture board to go downstairs in the student area. If you’re out tonight and this weekend for fireworks, wrap up warm and enjoy yourselves.
