Languages for Academic
SGI language tutors are experienced in providing support in any language for students who require additional private tuition to meet their academic objectives - for example, intensive preparation for school or college foreign language examinations (language or literature), after-school lessons to “keep up” or practice in individual skills, such as dictations, translations, essay writing, pronunciation or any other area of perceived weakness.
Our most popular languages are French, Spanish, German and Italian, but we also offer tuition in a wide range of European and other languages. With tutors located throughout the UK, we can arrange language classes in your home or any other convenient location wherever you live, seven days a week in the mornings, afternoons or evenings. If you are able to commute to Central London, we can also offer lessons in our modern language school near Oxford Circus.
As each learner has very individual learning needs, we prefer to offer private lessons only (although you may team up with fellow learners who have a similar level and requirements as you.) Your language course will be thoroughly prepared to ensure that your tutor is familiar with your objectives (and agrees that they are realistic) and has discussed with you the materials to be used and your targets and deadlines. An important part of these pre-course discussions will be to establish how much progress you can expect to make in the time you have available. Your course
Academic language courses are individually designed according to the needs, language level and time available to the learner. However, we will always take a detailed look at your history of studying in your language, analyse your strengths and weaknesses, and select appropriate resources depending on your objectives (for example, course books and past papers if you are preparing for a public examination.
