Elena from Russia studied for a full year at SGI. In that time she progressed her level of English from pre-intermediate at the beginning all the way up to advanced by the time she completed her study. How did she do this? Well, she began with 9 weeks of an English Combination Course, combining group lessons in the morning with One-to-One individual tuition in the afternoon. Then she moved to a Standard Course for just over 40 weeks, where the first lesson after lunch is an entertaining conversation class with a maximum of 8 students. These are really useful for practising all the grammar and vocabulary that you learn in the morning lessons. Finally, Elena finished her year with some IELTS classes – the essential course for anyone who wants to boost their Academic English or apply to enter university in the UK.

Also they (SGI) have a social activity life: we are going to museums, theatres, pubs – sometimes we have a party. And I met a lot of friends here from different countries all the world, like Japan, Spain, Italy, France and Brazil. And of course I will recommend this school as a perfect place to study Academic English.

Just one email from Elena to Kate in the SGI office made all this possible. Everything that Elena needed for her stay was arranged, including her visa and accommodation at the wonderful London Horizons (including its very own swimming pool).
