English School in London

At Saint George International (SGI), we like to think we are a lot more than just an English School in London. Firstly, we have been providing English classes for 50 years, since 1962: thousands of students from all around the world have enjoyed studying with us and have greatly improved their English level with us. We are an internationally recognised language training organisation with a wide range of English courses, so that we are able to accommodate every type of learner from beginner to advanced and teenager to business executive.

CENTRAL LONDON ENGLISH SCHOOL
We began teaching English when the school opened in 1962 in a small building in the Marylebone district of Central London. Then it was a family business and still today, SGI has retained its independent family-owned status. Being an important English school in London usually results in becoming too big to care, but at SGI every student still receives that personal touch and feels taken care of during their ‘English holiday’. We now operate, in a new purpose-built centre situated in the Fitzrovia district of Central London, just north of bustling Oxford Street, in quiet Margaret Street and only two minutes away from Oxford Circus underground station. Additionally, during the extra busy July and August, we use the excellent nearby classrooms and facilities of one of our key education partners, the University of Westminster.

ENGLISH SCHOOL TEACHERS
An English School is only as good as its English teachers and at SGI we are able to boast some of the best. All of our academic staff are native-speakers and well-qualified. The vast majority of our tutors have advanced TEFL qualifications as well as Masters degrees in language related subjects. We are fortunate to have several tutors that gained their own degrees at Oxford or Cambridge university. Additionally, SGI English School is a training centre which each month produces around 16 newly-qualified educators that graduate from our intensive TESOL certificate course to go off and become experienced English trainers not only in our London English school, but also in our schools around the world. Several of our best tutors also travel to internationally prestigious teaching conferences to give presentations on innovative and best-practice classroom methods.

At the heart of every English school are the students. If they are not happy, they will not be learning. At SGI, everyone is committed to constantly working hard to make every class full of interesting communicative activities in order to motivate each individual student. All the professional, helpful and friendly people in the office are always available to assist with any questions that arise to find a quick solution. Our daily social programme with exciting and interesting events around central London provides entertainment after class and time for students to really enjoy their time together. All of this results in a 98% ‘very satisfied’ rating on our school exit questionnaire. That is why we hope to be able to say that we are the best English school in London.
