The SGI 1-1 Professional English courses by Skype (or telephone) are a flexible and time-efficient way for busy professionals to develop their English communication skills from their home, their office, or indeed anywhere in the world! These great value courses are stimulating and effective and have been created out of our very extensive experience of providing Professional English language training to the international community.
Option 1: Individual lessons (1 lesson = 45 minutes)
SGI's individual lesson option is based on being able to provide students with a quick response to their needs as they arise. Our recent experience suggests that many students have a specific need that sometimes just involves one or two lessons. Here are some examples….
- A student needed to give an important presentation to company colleagues in English
- A university professor wanted to work on a paper she was presenting in English at an academic conference
- A Young professional had just got a job where she had to speak extensively on the telephone in English and wanted to be more confident in her delivery
- A student was re-locating to the USA and wanted to brush up his English conversation skills
Whatever the need, we aim to make sure that your performance in English is greatly improved, and that no matter what the purpose, you feel more confident when using English.
Option 2: Business English Speaking Courses (4 One-hour lesson packages)
Based on public demand, we have devised a number of course packages, that focus on key functional areas that business and professional people typically need to work on. Working with your assigned tutor, each course consists of 4 one-hour Skype/telephone lessons which includes online time plus preparation and consolidation tasks. The courses are characterised by a very high level of tutor guidance and feedback, as well as a detailed final report along with an SGI completion certificate.
The following Business English Speaking Courses are currently available as standard 4 lesson packages
- Effective participation in Meetings and Negotiations
- Giving Presentations
- Telephoning Skills
- Socialising in a Business context
Key study features
- Each course or individual lesson is tailored to the individual’s requirement and is based on a needs analysis, test and initial e-mail or telephone contact with our Director of Studies.
- If using Skype you and your tutor can exchange instant messages for written language points such as; confirming spelling, working on grammar points and correct errors in your written documents. Also if you use a webcam you can also see your teacher
- We aim to be quick and flexible to your need…lessons can be arranged rapidly at a date and time agreed between you and SGI.
- E-mail communication with the Director of Studies is always available, with advice being returned to you within one working day.
- Once a course or a lesson is booked, you will have access to the SGI e-learning programme.

Individual lesson fee: £45

Course Fee: £150 (for standard 4 lesson package )

Important Information: Your system requirements for lessons by Skype
- Broadband Internet connection: broadband is best
- Computer configuration o PC running Windows 2000, XP or Vista.
(Windows 2000 users require DirectX 9.0 for video calls).
o At least a 1GHz processor, 512 MB of RAM and above o Multimedia soundcard
o Speakers, microphone and webcam – built-in or separate.
