Summary of afternoon visits (All entrance fees included in the course fee)
Monday: Victoria and Albert Museum, in South Kensington; Spanning four centuries, the V&A’s Fashion collection is the largest and most comprehensive collection in the world with fashion items on display from as far back as the 17thcentury right up to the present day.
Tuesday: Fashion and Textile Museum, in Bermondsey; The Fashion and Textile Museum Collection highlights the changing face of contemporary fashion from 1947 to the present day with a number of key garments from designers including Christian Dior, Balenciaga, Biba, Mary Quant and Vivienne Westwood. The trip will include a visit to the inspirational exhibition T-shirt: Cult | Culture | Subversion charting the history, culture and subversion of the most affordable and popular item of clothing on the planet. From men’s underclothes to symbol of rock and roll rebellion, through punk and politics to luxury fashion item, t-shirts broadcast who we are and who we want to be.
Wednesday: Visit to Harrods Department Store, Knightsbridge ……… This is a great visit to the world's most famous department store - the definition of luxury shopping. Harrods has the most fantastic range of top designer fashion on display, including shop designer women wear from top brands including Alexander McQueen, Givenchy and MaxMara.
Thursday: Trace the evolution of the Princess’s style, from the demure, romantic outfits of her first public appearances, to the glamour, elegance and confidence of her later life. Don’t miss an extraordinary collection of garments, including the iconic velvet gown, famously worn at the White House when the Princess danced with John Travolta.
Friday: This fabulous event is part of the London Fashion Week Festival and takes place at the elegant Store Studios in the Strand. This super afternoon includes: Catwalk Shows, an exclusive shopping opportunity featuring 150 designers, and a free limited edition designer bag.
