Cambridge First ( FCE ) Summer Course

The Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE) is an extremely popular and highly-regarded General English exam at an Upper Intermediate level of English - B2 on the CEF (Common European Framework). Passing this exam proves the student can use everyday written and spoken English for work or study purposes. There are four parts to the exam, covering Speaking (14 minutes),  Listening (40 minutes), Writing (1 hour 20 minutes) and Reading (1 hour 15 minutes) with Use of English.

Available in summer, St George International’s daytime FCE courses benefit from small classes with experienced and highly-qualified English teachers, ensuring the preparation students need to pass the FCE exam.

With our small classes (average class size 8), and our well-qualified and highly trained teaching staff, we guarantee all students will be fully prepared for the demands of the FCE exam.

Reading and Use of English (1 hour 15 minutes) - 7 parts/52 questions
This part of the exam tests how well you can manipulate and control your vocabulary and grammar. To do well at this part of the exam you will show confidence at dealing  with different types of text, such as magazines fiction and newspapers.

Writing (1 hour 20 minutes) - 2 parts
This part of the exam involves producing two different pieces of writing, such as reports, letters, reviews and essays.

Listening (about 40 minutes) - 4 parts/30 questions
In the listening part of the exam you have to be able to understand a range of spoken materials, such as presentations, news programmes, and everyday conversations.

Speaking (14 minutes per pair of candidates) - 4 parts
The speaking part of the exam assesses your ability to communicate effectively in face-to-face situations and is always taken with one or two other candidates.
