If English is not your first language, then you should consider enrolling in an English language school in London. There are many benefits in learning how to speak and understand English fluently, not least of which includes watching English language films and TV! However, without a proper command of the English language it can be difficult to properly follow popular films or TV series. Fortunately, with intensive English courses in London you can bring your language skills up to scratch in hardly any time at all.

On Monday Ben accompanied me and the students to the pub. I was talking to one of the students about Traditional Afternoon tea and how amazing scones and jam are. Since this conversation I have now added it onto the programme for next week as it really got my taste buds going! Ben got into his usual football banter and the students were chatting about classes and how they have been finding life in London. On Tuesday Owen and Jess did the Royal Gardens Walk minus Nicky who got caught up and couldn’t join them.

On Monday John and I took around twenty five students to the Adam and Eve. We chatted about the Paralympics closing ceremony, life at SGI as well as getting to know the new students at the school. We were offered some m&ms by one of the students who had been to the store in Piccadilly earlier in the day. It seems he knows a lot about m&ms after comparing them to the store in New York! Tuesday saw Marija taking a group down to Trafalgar Square for the Lost in London sightseeing walk.

The people talking are British native speakers and also teachers at the school. They are chatting about everyday subjects, just like they would normally. That means that the conversation is completely natural and is not artificial in any way to help English students. This is British English conversation as it actually happens....it's not actors reading from a script like you have with the recordings from English textbooks. Soon, the podcasts will be available to download free from itunes so that you can listen on your phone or mp3 players.

This week started with drinks and chit chat on Monday. Marija and I took around 25 students to the Adam and Eve. After everyone got their drinks and Marija’s student photo shoot was over, everyone settled down for a good old chin wag. I had a very funny conversation with the Italians on International Woman’s day and whether it was appropriate for them to give us flowers in exchange for no homework, which I think, is not the point of the celebration. Although, Gemma seems to have a deal going that gets her a free beer every now and then!

The beginning of the week saw myself and Danielle taking around 35 students to The Adam and Eve for a drink. Once orders and drinks were done, everyone sat down for a chat on life in London, IELTS exams, football and the disastrous boat party from the Friday before. Unfortunately by the time everyone had arrived the boat was already at capacity and the students got turned away.
