British native speakers discuss the London Olympics

The people talking are British native speakers and also teachers at the school. They are chatting about everyday subjects, just like they would normally. That means that the conversation is completely natural and is not artificial in any way to help English students. This is British English conversation as it actually happens….it’s not actors reading from a script like you have with the recordings from English textbooks.

Soon, the podcasts will be available to download free from itunes so that you can listen on your phone or mp3 players.

We hope that you can broaden your English vocabulary knowledge and develop your listening skills by listening repeatedly to these podcasts.

We will be releasing a transcript shortly, so that you can read everything that you hear…to help your understanding. There will also be vocabulary explanations and questions about the conversation to test whether you really understand what we are talking about.

  1. Great podcast, a real pleasure to listen to. Please do some more!

    • Thanks so much for the positive feedback, Daniel. Don’t worry we have lots of podcasts to publish – We don’t want to bore people by putting a new one up every day though! Thinking of spacing them out a bit.
Did you listen to PODCAST 1 about clothes?

    • Thanks Daniel. Glad you enjoyed it. Here’s Pod Number 3: English Gentlemen

  2. Hi Bren,

I love this space and your contributions. I’ll be waiting for the vocabulary explanations and the questions.

    Thank you!

    • Thanks so much, Sandra. The transcripts are coming, we promise. Might take a bit of time, but they are on their way

    Interesting and relevant topic.
I am in Curitiba, Brazil. My feedback is about the sound volume. It was a bit low.
I used my desktop because i don´t have iTunes from Apple.
Cheers and keep doing your good job.

    • Hi Abilio,
      Thanks for your feedback.
We’ve boosted the volume in the latest blog about English gentlemen – Hope that helps. I think that the embedded mp3 player reduces the volume a bit. When these pods are available on itunes, they should be in original format without any reduction in audio quality. Did you know that you can also download itunes even if you are using a Windows environment?

  4. it’s a worthy lesson for anyone who is studying the real British English pronunciation. I’ve been waiting long for this audio listening lesson because I’m an English teacher at one of Indonesia’s Senior High Schools.
