Best teacher ever – who is yours?

Best teacher everA letter from a UK headteacher to her pupils has gone viral this week, as thousands of people shared it on social media along with the question of ‘who was your best teacher ever?’. Click on the image (on the right) to read the letter in full. The teacher’s letter was on the subject of some important tests that the schoolchildren were just about to get the results for. Here are some of the highlights from the letter… The people who create these tests do not know you – the way your teachers do and certainly not the way your families do. They do not know that many of you speak two languages, that you can play a musical instrument or that you can dance or paint a picture. They do not know that your friends count on you to be there for them or that your laughter can brighten the dreariest day. They do not know that you can be kind, trustworthy and thoughtful, and that you try every day to be your best. The scores you get will tell you something, but they will not tell you everything.

Best teacher ever?

Everybody has a best teacher story – the one teacher that they will always remember their whole life, that made a big difference to their time at school. If you are an ex-student from SGI, and you had a great learning experience with one of our English teachers – it would be really nice if you could drop them a line by commenting below. I’m sure you know, that teachers don’t get paid a massive salary and we teach because of a love for helping people, so it’s all worth it when occasionally someone says a genuine thank you. It is also fantastic to hear from old students so that we can learn how they are getting on nowadays.     Here is a quick video to show you what a great teacher that really cares can achieve by going the extra mile. This teacher helped a boy who could hardly speak a single word because of a terrible stammer. In the end, the student delivers an incredible speech to his classmates .. I must warn you that you might need a tissue because there are lots of tears at the end!
